Mark joined RVK in 2009 and is located in our Portland office. He began his RVK career as an Associate Consultant, was promoted to Consultant in 2012, named a Principal of the firm in 2016, and promoted to Senior Consultant in 2019.
In 2013, Mark established an Editorial Board with the objective of producing periodic thought leadership white papers and strategy studies addressing common client challenges. The Editorial Board oversees the production of the Investment Perspectives publication, as well as the production of periodic studies, such as the Investment Committee Best Practices. The Editorial Board consists of a multi-disciplinary team representing key specialty areas within the firm.
Mark is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and seminars, including the annual Pension Bridge Conference and State Association of County Retirement Systems Conference. He commonly presents on the topic of Investment Committee Best Practices, a proprietary research study published in 2015 and updated in 2017.
Prior to joining RVK, Mark served as a Consultant for Portfolio Logic, a Washington, DC-based private equity fund run by Jeffrey Zients, former CEO of the Advisory Board Company and former Chief Economic Advisor to President Barack Obama. He also co-founded Career Next Step and served as the company’s CEO. Prior to attending business school, Mark served in management positions at Symantec Corporation and the Advisory Board Company, where he led a variety of strategic and quantitative research studies.
Mark graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Psychology. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia. Mark holds both the Certified Financial Planner and Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Portland. Mark is a shareholder of the firm.
